Medicines and Accidents

The only medicines that are regularly administered in Nursery are inhalers for children with asthma and Epi-pens for children with allergies. The Nursery is not legally obliged to administer medicine however if your child has been prescribed medicine by your G.P. to be administered four times a day then we will be happy to give the medication. A form of authorisation will need to be completed by a parent/carer in the school office.

All medicine must be given/collected from Nursery staff, we cannot pass medicine to children. Asthma inhalers and all medication is kept locked away in the medical room during the Nursery day.

Parents should make the Nursery aware of any serious or long term medical conditions so that a care plan can be completed. If you have any concerns regarding your child’s health please contact Mrs Miles who oversees the care arrangements for children with medical needs and first aid provision in Nursery and school.

Any accidents at Nursery are treated by a trained First Aider, details are recorded by the First Aider and will be dealt with following our accident procedure. In the event of a more serious accident, you will be contacted immediately. Please ensure that contact numbers are accurate and kept up-to-date in case of emergencies.

Hearing and Vision

If you should have any concerns around your child’s hearing/vision please speak to your child’s key worker or the Nursery Room Leader who can arrange for further assessments to be done around your child.

Head Lice

We ask parents to check their children’s hair thoroughly and frequently. If you find that your child has head lice please let us know. We have information on how to deal with this problem and will happily offer advice. If your child should have head lice, once treated and clear of lice and eggs they can return to Nursery.
