Year 2 Hub
Here you can find out more about what we’ve been up to in our Year 2 classes and see what is planned over coming weeks. Don’t forget to take a look at our news stories in main news section too!
Our latest topic is ‘London’s Burning!’ – Monday 4th November to Friday 6th December 2019
The children will learn about how something in the past has influenced life today. They will develop their skills of empathy by imagining how they would have felt if they had lived during the time of the Great Fire.
Through art the children will have the opportunity to use their creativity to produce collages an paintings. We will further extend their thinking and improve their emotional intelligence through the study of other people’s diaries and the creation of their own.
Highlights of the topic will include;
- We will be designing artwork inspired by the Great Fire and displaying this for everyone to see.
- We will be writing information about what happened, why and how we know.
We are holding a Year 2 Parent Workshop on Wednesday 4th December at 2.30pm. Please come along and join us to build 3D Tudor Houses. Please could you bring your own boxes for this activity.
Please see attached link for this half term’s Home Learning Challenge. This will also be sent out via Parentmail and a paper copy sent home with each child.
On Monday 29th and Tuesday 30th April we received visits from an Owl Sanctuary and a Bat Rescue Centre as part of our new topic ‘After Dark’. We learnt fascinating facts about the owls and bats enabling us to deepen our knowledge and understanding and ‘get up close’ to these amazing creatures!
