Year 2 Hub
Here you can find out more about what we’ve been up to in our Year 2 classes and see what is planned over coming weeks. Don’t forget to take a look at our news stories in main news section too!
Our latest topic is ‘What a wonderful world!’ (Monday 3rd June to Friday 5th July 2019)
We will be exploring, fact finding and comparing a variety of countries and cultures both in and around Europe. We will be learning about the continents and oceans of the world as well as places closer to home such as capital cities of the United Kingdom.
The children will show what they have learnt through making fact sheets about countries and writing postcards.. They will also create imaginative stories with a multi cultural theme.
Please join us for our Parent Workshop on Thursday 4th July at 2.30pm. We would like the children to create a t-shirt of their own design to represent a particular country. They will use what they have learnt about different countries to help them with colours, illustrations and designs. Please bring in an old t’shirt along with items to decorate it with e.g. felt tips, sequins, fabric paints glitter etc.
Please see attached link for this half term’s Home Learning Challenge. This will also be sent out via Parentmail and a paper copy sent home with each child.
On Monday 29th and Tuesday 30th April we received visits from an Owl Sanctuary and a Bat Rescue Centre as part of our new topic ‘After Dark’. We learnt fascinating facts about the owls and bats enabling us to deepen our knowledge and understanding and ‘get up close’ to these amazing creatures!
Here are some photographs of space stations and rockets that we made at our Parent Workshop at the end of our ‘3,2,1 Blast off!’ project
