Learning in Reception

Our approach to learning in Reception classes, details of current projects and suggestions on how you can get more involved at home.

Our latest topic is ‘Easter at Stanley Green!’ (Monday 1st April to Friday 5th April 2019)
Keep your eyes peeled for the Easter Bunny during our Easter topic!  During this topic the children will be learning about why Easter is celebrated.  We will also be discussing why not all children celebrate Easter in the same way and how it is o.k to have different family traditions and beliefs.
Some of the exciting highlights of this topic are:
  • Learning about the Easter story
  • Learning about traditions at Easter
  • Making Easter nests
  • Parents/Carers are invited to come to school to make Easter masks with their child on Wednesday 3rd April at 2.30pm, paper plates, sticky tape, glue and some craft materials will be available to use but please bring anything extra your child would like to use to decorate their mask.
During our ‘Chinese New Year!’ topic we tasted different foods and opened fortune cookies!

Pictures from our recent ‘Helpful Heroes’ topic, we held a parent’s workshop where we made emergency vehicles from junk modelling and had visits from the Fire Service, Police, Ambulance Service and Mountain Rescue Service.
