Learning in Reception
Our approach to learning in Reception classes, details of current projects and suggestions on how you can get more involved at home.
Our latest project is ‘Over The Rainbow’ (24th February 2020 to 27th March 2020)
We can be whatever we want this term! – During this topic we aim to capture the children’s imagination and creativity. We will be using our imaginations to become someone else and develop new stories with a range of characters and magic.
Throughout the topic we will have lots of highlights including;
- Rainbow paintings and colour mixing
- Hat testing – which material will be best to stop the rain getting to our heads?
- Which objects will get blown by the wind?
- Recording the weather and looking at seasonal changes
- As the topic develops we will walk across the rainbow into an imaginary world of fairies and wizards.
Please see the diary dates section of the website for all of the dates for different events during this topic.
Parents/Carers are invited to come into school to attend the Reception Parent/Carer Workshop on Wednesday 4th March at 2.30pm. We will be making a rain gauge from plastic soft drink bottles and if you have one a plastic ruler. (If you do not have a ruler we will provide a laminated one) Please bring along any other items of junk modelling that you would like to use.
